WRINKLES – THE ORIGINAL ROAD-MAPS TO OUR FACES

For years, I thought I had to fight them – like little enemy soldiers creeping across my forehead at night, setting up camp and refusing to leave. Every magazine shouted “anti-ageing!” like growing old was a crime and moisturiser was bail money. But here’s the truth I’ve finally cracked: wrinkles aren’t something to fight. They’re the good conduct lines of a life well-lived.

Every laugh crease?

That’s from the times you laughed so hard you nearly peed (and sometimes did – midlife bladder control is its own stand-up routine).

The crow’s feet?

They’re proof you squinted at sunsets, grinned at friends across the table, and smiled your way through love, chaos, and probably a badly behaved teenager.

The frown lines?

Well, those are basically our permanent “WTF face” – at bosses, husbands, politicians, and anyone who says, “have you tried cutting out caffeine?”

Growing old gracefully? Ha! That was never in my DNA. I’m here for growing old disgracefully:

Laughing too loudly in public and not caring.

Tripping over my reading glasses because I’ve got three pairs and can never find one.

Buying leopard print because it makes me feel fabulous, not because Vogue told me it’s “in.”

Dancing badly (but enthusiastically) when the DJ plays our song.

And here’s the thing, ladies: every line you see in the mirror is proof that you showed up.

That you lived.

That you got through the heartbreaks, the hormones, the hideous 80s shoulder pads (still recovering), and came out the other side stronger, funnier, and maybe a bit louder than before.

Those little crinkles around your eyes? They’re the medals of late-night wine chats with friends who became sisters.

That deep line between your brows? That’s from keeping a straight face when your kids told you, “But everyone else is allowed to.”

That softer jawline? That’s from saying yes to dessert, and good for you.

So next time you catch yourself staring in the mirror, don’t sigh and think “oh god, another wrinkle.”

Stop.

Look again.

See the roadmap of your incredible, messy, magical life looking back at you.

Own it.

Celebrate it.

Love the face that’s carried you this far – every laugh, every cry, every WTF, every joy.

We don’t need filters, we don’t need permission, and we certainly don’t need to apologise for ageing. We’ve earned these lines. We wear them like sequins – bold, unapologetic, and sparkling proof that we’ve been here, we’ve lived, and we’re still fabulous.

So… here’s to ageing disgracefully, joyfully, outrageously – and loving the reflection that’s laughing right back at us….

Wrinkle on, my friends. Wrinkle on – Love Who You Are and more importantly,

CELEBRATE YOUR LIFE WELL-LIVED
